High angle shot
Definition of a high angle shot: A high angle shot is usually when the camera angle is located above the eye line. With this type of angle, the camera looks down on the subject and the subject often gets "swallowed up" by the setting. A high angle shows the subject from above, i.e. the camera is angled down towards the subject. This has the effect of diminishing the subject, making them appear less powerful, less significant or even submissive.
Example of a high angle shot:
The high angle shot is used here to make the subject seem submissive and small as he is being told off.
